Can you even have a March blog/social post without some kind of St. Patrick’s Day or Spring reference? No, definitely not.
To my fellow Midwesterners who have been protected under puffy parkas and swaddled in scarves (sorry not sorry I’m all about alliteration), we’re going to make it. The days are about to get longer and spring is officially around the corner.
Feeling creative and ready to break out of this winter hibernation, I wanted to share some of my intentions for the month of March. It’s currently 45 and sunny and my body is craving a walk around the lake so let’s get to it.
Be wherever you are. Fully.
I’m fully aware one is a little cliche in the intentions/wellness world but it sticks around for a reason. In the day and age of everything (and everyone) you want at your fingertips, it’s so easy to pick up your phone out of pure habit and just scroll Instagram to see what everyone else is up to – even when you’re out doing something you love.
We have a couple trips planned this month and I REALLY want to make the most of them by being as present and available as I can. I’m hoping to soak in each memory more instead of thinking about all the things to do when we get home or wondering what we could be doing instead. Easier said than done, but always worth the try.
Incorporate one additional no/low waste swap.
I recently swapped out my one-time use cotton rounds for Marley’s Monsters reusable cotton facial rounds and I’ll never look back. Not only are they better for the environment than single use products but they’re incredibly soft and make me happy looking at the cute prints.
As I work through the products I have, I’m trying to swap out no/low waste items to less my environmental impact. I’m not sure exactly what that looks like for this month but that’s part of the fun.

One Minute Rule: If you can do it in less than 60 seconds, do it now.
I’m incredibly effected by my environment, especially when it comes to clutter. But I’m also trying to give myself more space to not be “perfect,” to allow things to just be and better understand how minute some of these crises I make up in my mind really are.
To keep from driving myself crazy (in either direction), I really want to lean into this One Minute Rule, this idea where if you can accomplish a task in less than a minute, just do it now. The hope is that by taking care of the little things in life I can do quickly (hanging up a coat, wiping down the stove, straightening the picture in our living room that’s been crooked for weeks) and keeping the bigger projects confined to a certain time frame will help me feel a deeper sense of accomplishment without burnout.
Flip your perspective: Can you see it another way?
This month I’m going to be very mindful about looking at all sides of the story. Is there another truth I’m missing? If a situation involves someone else, what might they be thinking, feeling, worrying about, etc. in this moment that is making them act the way they are? I’m already fairly empathic so I already have a pretty good sense of how someone else is feeling in that moment but I’m hoping to take it one step farther to understand how that might affect their actions and how my words or actions come into play as well.
Celebrate luck in all forms.
It’s easy to recognize the bigger moments in life when we get “lucky” (although to be completely honest I don’t believe anything is luck and everything is really just the universe aligning to teach you lessons you need and open up opportunities you may not see as such right away, but I digress) but the little ones matter just as much, if not more!
When you hit all the green lights on your way to work, when you see 11:11, when your favorite band announces a show near you, when that perfect inspirational meme you needed comes across your Instagram feed, when you actually decide what you want to eat that night and your partner says that sounds great to them too (a MIRACLE in this household).
These little moments are really huge gifts from the universe. It’s easy to just smile at these moments and move on with your life. But if you take a second to think about all the things that had to align to make this happen, you recognize what an actual blessing it is. This month, I want to be super intentional in giving thanks (like, actually saying “thank you, universe!”) every time I notice one of these “lucky” moments.
Those are my intentions for the month – how about you? Feel free to borrow one of mine or come up with one of your own. For other monthly intention ideas, click here or here.
