About

Hello! My name is Bethany, your tight-hipped, open-hearted host. Welcome to my space. Grab a snack and stay a while.

Tight Hips

An avid soccer player growing up in Northern California, running (albeit never quickly…) has been a huge part of my life. I joined cross country my senior year of high school but quit shortly into the season when I found my coaches were more upset that I was coming in last than I was. (Oops.)

Fast forward to the next summer when my cousin asked me to run a half marathon with him. With nothing but time to kill before heading off to college – and a desire to always be carbo-loading – I willingly obliged. Once I discovered the joy in running for yourself, not because you’re doing it for someone else, I was hooked.

Open Heart

I first got into yoga in 2013 as a way to balance out my running and relieve some back pain that came from a job where I sat in a car for hours on end. As I felt my body begin to heal and my anxieties start to quiet down, I knew this wasn’t a passing fling.

In 2016 I completed my 200hr yoga teacher training with Core Power and my love for the practice and the spirituality attached to mindset and wellness grew tenfold, incorporating more mindfulness, compassion and a deeper understanding for the powers within all of us into my daily life.

I started this blog as a way to get some of these thoughts out and to hopefully inspire even just one person to move a little more, dream a little bigger, believe a little deeper but has since evolved with me and my interests. Sometimes it’s humorous, sometimes it’s full spiritual woo woo. It could a practical guide to more sustainable living or a just for fun recap of a hiking trail. None of us are one dimensional so why should the work we put out into the world be?

Life Lately

My favorite ways to move my body these days include:

  • Hiking new-to-me trails after recently moving to southern Nevada from Minnesota
  • Walking my dog
  • Resistance training
  • Getting back on the bike after a bad accident
  • Trying out Apple Fitness videos for workouts on demand

While the specifics to my spiritual practice are always changing, my connection to a higher power remains. I know the universe has a plan for all of us and the tools we pick up along the way help us uncover what that plan is.

Thanks for stopping by. I would love to connect so please reach out with questions, collabs, comments, feedback. I’m all ears.

XO with light and love,

Bethany
